Say No to using your Adword
This is based on a real life event, hence may be important to read for all of those who use Google adwords for promoting their website.
One of my former colleagues with his website A (real website not mentioned) got an urgent call from his friend. His friend mentioned that his Google adword account is having some problem and is not working properly for his website B (real site not mentioned).
He wanted some urgent help to put some campaign in Google adword to promote his Website B. Since his own adword account was not working he asked my colleague to lend his Google adword account. He asked him to get some fresh campaign made in his (my colleague) adword account and put the URL for Website B for promotion.
Under the influence of old friendship, he obliged.
Two days later, his own Google adword account was blocked by Google.
He got panicked and immediately checked with Google. They explained him there was a banned URL Website B which was promoted through his adword account; hence his entire adword account is blocked. He did is best to argue with Google to spare his adword account since it was also promoting his own Website A which was legitimate, but in vain.
The story did not end here; he was also told that he cannot promote his Website A by opening another adword account as well. On top of it, the credit card that he used for creation of his earlier Google adword cannot be used for making any other adword account.
Now, he cannot promote his Website A on any Google adword. Now he is making a fresh website, opening a new adword account with a different credit card. His entire campaign history and good work done on his adword account is lost. His entire brand effort for Websie A is also lost.
Friendship cost him very big on his business.
Treat your adword account the way you would treat your wallet. You do not let your friend to operate your bank account. Same diligence should be exercised with your adword account.
But if you are born with a mindset “A friend in need, is a friend indeed” , then you create a fresh adword account for him and use another credit card and let him put some campaigns for his website. But for God sake and the sake of your family and business, do not use your normal business adword account.
